The SAMHSA state mental health block grants require states to submit 31 data fields about the demographics of individuals receiving services under the auspices of the state mental health authority. I am trying to better understand how other states are capturing and reporting data:
- how are states capturing Medicaid-funded services? Are those outside the scope of reporting?
- are any states using claims data to capture the demographic data?
- in Maryland, providers must submit the detailed demographic data in connection with auth requests. If your state has moved away from this due to parity concerns, how is your state meeting the block grant data requirements instead?
Appreciate any insights you can share.
