  • 1.  Workforce Shortages

    Earlier this year, the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and TennCare convened a workgroup to develop recommendations to address the behavioral health workforce shortages in TN. Mary Linden and I both participated in the workgroup. The final report was just released and can be

    Funding for several of these strategies was included in budget presentations to the administration and our advocacy efforts have begun. 

    I hope there are some ideas that you can use in your state as you confront the workforce issues.

    Thank you so much for sharing.  Our lead staff person on workforce issues just sent this to me-

     

    "I think this may be the best report I have seen on this to date. It outlines strategies with data and creating a logical pathway for the system to address the workforce. Their long term strategies are something PA has been talking about for a decade...paid internships, paid clinical supervision, etc."

     

    And we will be sharing with our state officials.  Really well done.
