Dear Association Executives - Yesterday Congress passed a continuing resolution (CR) that pushes the upcoming government funding deadlines to March 1 and March 8.

Similar to the CR passed in November 2023 with layered funding deadlines, this short-term stopgap will provide funding for four appropriations bills that were set to expire January 19, including Agriculture-FDA, through March 1. The eight remaining spending bills, including the Labor-Health and Human Services-Education bill with key mental health and substance use programs, will be funded through March 8. This CR also contains extenders for expiring healthcare policies.

With the current CR now passed, the next step is for Congress to agree to 302(b) levels that establish the funding cap for each individual appropriations bill. Congress will then need to pass FY2024 appropriations before the March deadlines.

Please let me or Katherine Seibel, Manager, Policy & Advocacy, Federal and Regulatory Activities know if you have any questions or if any additional information would be helpful.

    Have a terrific weekend.
