    Dear Association Executives,

I'm happy to share two major CCBHC updates:

    • The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced the recipients of the newest round of CCBHC Planning Grants, as part of the nationwide expansion of the CCBHC demonstration through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The selected states are: AL, DE, GA, IA, KS, ME, MS, MT, NC, NH, NM, OH, RI, VT and WV.

We'll follow up with more specific takeaways, but we wanted to make sure you got the news as soon as possible.

The National Council congratulates the states that were selected for the CCBHC Planning Grants, and we look forward to working with you and your state officials to provide support during the planning year.

We also recognize that it was a highly competitive grant and, unfortunately, many qualified states were not selected this year due to the 15-state limitation. Our team is on hand to support you and your state officials with alternate planning efforts – from moving forward with the model under a Medicaid State Plan Amendment to prepping to re-apply in the next cycle. We will follow up with you individually to discuss possible next steps and opportunities in further detail.

To continue promoting the model and its nationwide expansion, the National Council will issue a public statement either later today or first thing tomorrow discussing the significance of the grants and what they mean for communities nationwide. This will be a broad acknowledgment of the success of CCBHCs. Similarly, we plan to send a message to our full membership tomorrow morning, noting both the planning grants announcement and the updated criteria.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

    Best regards,

    Chuck Ingoglia
