The Department of Labor along with the the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Treasury -- recently released the 2022 MHPAEA Report to Congress: "Realizing Parity, Reducing Stigma, and Raising Awareness: Increasing Access to Mental health and Substance Use Disorder Coverage."
Under the Biden-Harris Administration, the Departments have made an unprecedented commitment to advance mental health and substance use disorder parity by making MHPAEA enforcement a top priority. In general, our findings suggest there is a failure by plans and issuers to deliver parity for mental health and substance use disorder benefits. We are committed to making progress so that people receive they care they need and are entitled to under the law.
You are invited to a briefing today with the Departments of Labor, HHS, and Treasury to learn more about the report's content and findings.
This briefing is scheduled for TODAY, January 25, from 12:00-12:30p.m. ET.
You can register and submit questions here.
We appreciate your engagement and look forward to working together to better realize parity for mental health and substance use disorder benefits.
Thanks,
Ali Khawar
