Dear Association Executives – This week, congressional committees have held and will continue holding multiple hearings of interest to mental health and substance use treatment providers.

On Tuesday, the House Committee on Ways and Means held a hearing on President Biden's proposed fiscal year (FY) 2022 budget with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra. Simultaneously, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) held a hearing to consider the nomination of Miriam Delphin-Rittmon to be Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, leading the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Today, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies held a hearing with HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to discuss HHS's FY2022 budget.

Please see the links below for a readout from both hearings from the National Council consultants.
