Dear Association Executives - I'm not sure I can think of a time in recent memory when the momentum around mental health and substance use advocacy has been greater. From the Biden administration unveiling a strategy to address the nation's mental health crisis, to the numerous bipartisan Congressional hearings over the past 6 months (many of which have featured your members!) we have our elected officials' attention . . . now it's time to take advantage and raise our unified voice to demand action.

As you may have seen through other National Council communications, we are holding our Hill Day at Home and Virtual Policy Institute on Wednesday, June 8, which is open to all our members and the public. We're hoping to make a big impact with this year's virtual Hill Day. If you haven't registered already, you can do so here.

Can you help us promote Hill Day at Home on June 8? In the below google drive link, you'll find messages you can copy and paste to send to your members (and anyone else you'd like). Feel free to use whichever methods make the most sense for you – an email, a newsletter blurb, social media, you name it – we've got you covered with drafted messages in every format.

Our full promotional toolkit can be found here. It includes:

    • Template email for you to share with your audiences
    • Template newsletter blurb
    • Template social media posts

Here are some quick links if you'd rather share these directly:

No one knows better than you and your members that the increased need for mental health and substance use services in our communities combined with diminishing workforce has created a mental health and substance use crisis in our nation. Let's be loud this year.

The Advocacy Asks for this year's event will fall into four broad categories, listed below. We will share details around specific pieces of legislation soon, which are subject to change.

    • Substance Use Crisis Solutions
    • Fulfilling the Promise of 988
    • Workforce Shortage in America: Discussing Innovative Solutions and Areas of Opportunity
    • Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics: Achieving Nationwide Expansion and Adoption

The week following Hill Day at Home, we hope to see as many of you as possible for our in-person Spring Association Executives Committee meeting – and we're hopeful you will also have the chance to meet in-person with your Members of Congress or their staff on June 15, if permitted by Capitol Hill's enhanced security procedures. We'll keep you updated on these procedures and look forward to working with you to schedule visits.

Thank you in advance for participating in and promoting Hill Day at Home on June 8! Your help will go a long way toward ensuring Hill Day at Home is both memorable and meaningful. I hope to see you and your members there!

    Best, Reyna
