    To explore ways we can make Engage more user-friendly, I'm experimenting with a centralized digest format pulling together some of the helpful resources we've recently discussed into one place.

    Reporting Requirements Compliance Grid, State Example from MTM

    State legislative action and insurers tend to layer additional reporting requirements onto behavioral health services, beyond the existing federal reporting requirements. This can lead to redundancies, inefficiency, and increased administrative burdens.
     
    In this example, MTM has mapped this compliance grid crosswalk across all payers to indicate where state requirements and requirements from insurers differ from federal requirements. A version tailored for your state can serve as a powerful advocacy tool to help indicate where requirements are redundant, burdensome, or unnecessary.

     

    Model Prompt Payment Language

    A work in progress, this draft model legislation requires insurers to file reports with the state containing information on a health insurer's compliance with the State's prompt payment laws and the penalties that have been imposed as a result of enforcement of such laws.
     
    There are many other helpful examples of language to improve payments in our Medicaid Managed Care Contracting Guide for State Associations. Something to consider is including language around clean claims, and requiring clear, actionable explanations as to why a claim is denied.

     

    Crisis Response Models Report from Abt and Arnold Ventures

    As 9-8-8 moves into its implementation phase, it will be important to determine what role community behavioral health providers play in responding to calls for SMI and SUD crises. This report, "A Guidebook to Reimagining America's Crisis Response Systems" provides an overview of different response models across states. Key components of response are broken out and discussed, and page 5 of the report has a helpful chart linking to all the models they considered.

     

    COVID Financial Tools for Members

    This collection of tools provide guidance to providers on navigating cash flow constraints and financial/operational strategies for stabilizing operations.

      • The COVID Monthly Projection Template is a tool providers can use to forecast cash flow projections and control for various staffing, visit volume and reimbursement scenarios.
      • The COVID-19 Decision Tree Matrix is a tool for providers to analyze the stipulations, benefits and conditions around various federal COVID assistance programs to inform their decisions.

    Really good idea, thank you, Frankie.  We're all deluged with emails and we may miss some or we may forget to go look at Engage each day (ok, well, at least I forget).  So this kind of digest is really helpful to catch things we missed.
