    Dear Association Executives:

CMS has recently announced new technical assistance opportunities available to states that may be of interest to you.  You may want to talk to your Medicaid agency about these!

CMCS Announces Array of IAP TA Opportunities

On November 29, the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) announced several new opportunities for states to participate in Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program technical assistance opportunities. They include:

    • VBP for FFS HCBS: An IAP track on value-based purchasing for FFS HCBS programs. This technical support opportunity is open to states at all levels of experience and progress in developing a VBP strategy for FFS in HCBS. States that have previously participated in the Medicaid IAP CI-LTSS tracks are welcome to submit an expression of interest for this technical assistance opportunity.
    • VBP and Financial Simulations Information Session: Participants will learn about the goals, structure, and technical assistance approach for working with states on VBP and financial simulations. Selected states will have the opportunity to work with VBP and financial simulation experts through individualized technical assistance and state-to-state learning activities. This technical assistance opportunity is open to states at all levels of experience and progress in developing a VBP approach.
      • The webinar will be held on Thursday, December 12, from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Eastern; register for the webinar here
    • Reducing SUD Information Session: States will learn about two technical assistance opportunities, one on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and one on substance use disorder (SUD) data dashboards, and the state selection process for each.
      • The webinar will be held on Tuesday, December 17, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Eastern; register for the webinar here

    • Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnership Toolkit: This IAP track released the State Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnerships Toolkit, which is designed to assist states as they consider systems-level changes that further community integration, including the intersection between health care and housing. The toolkit contains the following resources and instructions for states' use:
      • The driver diagram articulates the high-level plan for systems change.
      • The housing-related services crosswalk maps out programmatic and funding information for currently available housing-related services.
      • The housing assessment maps out programmatic and funding information for currently available affordable housing resources and helps identify opportunities to improve capacity.
      • The gap analysis prompts discussion to help state teams determine what is needed to reach the state's goals related to housing and community integration.
      • The action plan sets forth the goals, objectives, deliverables, and action steps in the state's effort around systems change.
      • The glossary defines key terms in housing and Medicaid to help partners understand each other's language.
