Dear National Council Members - On the heels of a global pandemic, with mental health issues on the rise, we all need to be able to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health challenges. The updated Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) curriculum, a program of the National Council for Behavioral Health, provides new information on trauma, self-care, wellness and resilience. A new virtual delivery option will make it even more accessible during times of physical distancing.

Centene Corporation has generously donated $250,000 to the National Council for Behavioral Health's COVID-19 Relief Fund, specifically for National Council members to bring MHFA Virtual to their communities. Thanks to Centene, nonprofit National Council member organizations can apply for a $7,500 grant, which can be used toward:

    • Training new Instructors
    • Certifying existing Instructors in Virtual
    • Purchasing training units for First Aiders taking the virtual course

Eligible applicants include nonprofit National Council member organizations. Applicants can request this funding through the COVID-19 Relief Fund application. Please note that organizations can request general support funds AND MHFA Virtual funds. If your organization has already requested general support funds, please complete an additional application to request MHFA Virtual funds.
