While we have not encountered the surge yet in Iowa, we are preparing. I am interested in learning from others how you have addressed the anxiety, depression, uncertainty, paranoia, PTSD symptoms that we anticipate seeing in staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Typical debriefings do not seem appropriate nor do intrusive check ins with units, departments, staff. We are providing information on stress, encouraging people to take care of themselves, check in with co workers, etc. but wondered if others have used or modified any techniques to proactively address these potential issues with staff. Crisis management briefings that were used during 911 may hold some promise but open to anything that anyone has learned or done this far.
Thanks.
Tom
